There's a very special zoo

to the north of Kathmandu....

Welcome to The  Zoo at Kathmandu - a series of warm and funny children's animal stories with messages of kindness and friendship.

Book Series

The Zoo at Kathmandu book series has been written for 5 to 8 year olds. Vibrant illustrations carefully follow thoughtful storylines about funny animals living in a quaint zoo to the north of Kathmandu. Rhyming names add humour and help children remember who they are; Enola-Clare the polar bear, Brian the lion, Ringo the dingo, Anita the anteater and many more illustrious characters are ready to spring from the pages.

Accepted in libraries and starting to enter schools, the books are being seen as a valuable contribution to children's reading and development.

Two friends get together for lunch. Elsa Schmidt has a lively sausage dog called Max and Harriet Carew has a quick tempered  bald eagle called Archie (Archibald-Eagle). Carefully separated, Archie and Max are left in Mrs Carew's house while the friends go to lunch. Max finds a way to let Archie out and they go flying using the carry handle on Max's jacket and together, they fly all over Kathmandu.

A polar bear cub slips from her pen into the cage next door where a seal and sea lion live. Neil is set on looking after her but Ryan the sea lion thinks this is crazy - polar bears are among the largest and fiercest animals in the world and Ryan and Neil aren't fierce at all. However, with affection and care, they build a close bond and a polar bear friendship is very special

Noah the boa has a day out when a small door is left slightly open and he slips away to explore the zoo. Sarah and Gina, the keepers, go on a hunt for him with Molly the collie and Daniel the spaniel but he gives them the slip by finding all kinds of hiding places.
